During the week-long orientation session, around 200 students participated in several activities designed to help them get to know each other and induct them into the ISB culture. The alumni set the ball rolling by apprising the students of the Graduate School Board (GSB). About 30 alumni across different classes, including the Founding Class at Hyderabad, arrived at Mohali to spearhead the Orientation Week. While the students were involved in several team-building activities during the day, they relaxed in the evening in preparation of the year ahead. For Gautam Malhotra, a student of Co2013, the O-week was “hectic learning and fun.” He felt enriched by the experience. “This helped me network with my classmates. I learnt that the PGP course is designed for holistic development,” said Malhotra.
The Faculty and Research department hosted a felicitation ceremony for the research staff (RAs) & academic associates (AAs) who have qualified for PhD programmes in top business schools at the Hyderabad campus. The School has nurtured several researchers and helped them in achieving their goals. This year, 16 researchers and academic associates have received offers from prestigious institutes such as Arizona State, CMU, Duke, Emory, Fletcher, HKUST, INSEAD, Kellogg, Ross at Michigan, Stern at NYU, UC-Irvine, UT-Austin and the Wharton. Researchers expressed their gratitude to their advisors in the ceremony. “It has been exactly one year since I joined ISB. I had applied to 15 schools the previous year and was rejected by all. I attribute my success to my advisors, Professor Anand Nandkumar and Professor Raveendra Chittoor in the Strategy area. Once you are in ISB, you have access to all the resources you need to make it to a PhD program of your choice,” said Arun Patro, a researcher who received eight offers from top B-schools.
