Significant contributions enlarge the Alumni Endowment Fund
Distinguished and outstanding in their professional lives, the more than 6000 alumni of the Indian School of Business (ISB) play a vital role in the growth and success of the School as a world class institution.
The ISB’s Alumni Endowment Fund saw a significant boost in its corpus with two recent substantial contributions which total up to slightly more than Rs 1 Crore. The endowment fund will further benefit from the matching contribution by the School, taking the total value of the fund to roughly Rs 3 Crore.
Among the recent contributions to the endowment fund was a contribution to the tune of Rs 50 lakh from a generous alumnus (who has chosen to remain anonymous) towards instituting a need based scholarship for students of the School. This is the largest individual contribution by an alumnus to the Endowment Fund. The entire School community is overwhelmed and extremely grateful to our alumnus donor for generous support.
This grant was further augmented by contributions by the students from the Class of 2014 who graduated recently. The Class of 2014 raised nearly Rs 51 lakh towards their Class Gift. While a small portion of Rs 2-3 lakh will be utilised to launch a music room in Mohali campus, the rest of the contribution will further supplement the Alumni Endowment Fund. 580 students from across both campuses united to present the Class Gift. This is the largest class gift ever at the School and also the largest contribution from a single class to the Alumni Endowment Fund. Further, students of the PGPMAX Class of 2013 have also pledged approximately Rs 21 lakhs to the endowment fund.
The Alumni Endowment Fund, established to provide financial security to the School and its extended community is the nest egg which will aid in building wealth for future generations. Set up in 2010 through initial contributions by alumni from the Class of 2004, it supports the school in three critical areas – viz. scholarships for tuitions, opportunities to build industry connect with student/alumni and to encourage and promote research. Currently, the fund is utilised to award one scholarship towards increasing diversity in the PGP programme and provide for one need based scholarship.
