The New Year started with the students continuing to focus on preparing for the fast approaching placement season. This year the placement season has been made a rolling process with day one being January 15 and 16, day two being the following weekend and so on until everyone is placed. Day one saw the usual suspects of McKinsey, BCG, ATK, etc that came looking for their consultants. Overall placements are going well and we expect to conclude by March-April.
Away from the placement season, the ISB continued its march up the Financial Times rankings. It went up from 15 to 12 this year. As Dean Ajit Rangnekar put it this is indeed a remarkable achievement as ISB has gone from 20 in 2007 to 15 in 2008 to 12 in 2009. At a celebration ceremony held in the Atrium the Dean said, “Our focus from now on will be on producing world class research that will be relevant to industry. So from that perspective, you ain’t seen nothing yet.” In true ISB style there was a rocking party that night with everyone from the management taking to the dance floor and celebrating. Here’s wishing that the ISB continues to be seen as a truly world-class institution.
