April saw the Class of 2011 graduating with honors and a new Class coming into the ISB fold. The torch bearers and young leaders from the Class of 2011 were also recognized. Every new Class just raises the bar – the Class of 2011 was no exception. They organized fabulous events, started some unique initiatives like the ISB Sports League; won numerous competitions; hosted great speakers and made the entire ISB community proud. I know they will win laurels where ever they go, and will also contribute to making the alumni network stronger.

Adi Godrej took over as the second Chairman of the Board on the 2nd of April. He has always been an extremely strong supporter of the School and is now committed to additional responsibilities. I am sure we will go from strength to strength under his guidance.
We welcomed the Class of 2012 with style. The orientation week was packed with activities, team building exercises, parties and of course loads and loads of “gyaan” from alumni. As part of orientation, the Class of 2012 was able to get different perspectives from the alumni across different classes starting from the Founding Class.
The Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai chapters had earlier organized a pre-ISB meet and greet for the new admits of the Class of 2012. More than 200 new admits attended along with many alumni, and we got some great feedback. Most chapters will continue this tradition from the next year.
The School continued its 10 years celebrations by organizing an event in Philadelphia on the 20th of April. Many visiting faculty, our friends from Wharton and other well wishers attended. As Deputy Dean of Wharton, Mike Gibbons said, “You know you have really reached somewhere when you can get a President of a University (Patrick Harker, President, University of Delaware) to drive a few hours to attend your 10 years celebrations.” Incidentally Harker was the Dean of Wharton during the founding years of the ISB. Alumni from Washington D.C., Boston, New York and the surrounding areas also attended. Our area leaders from Wharton and Founding Dean Pramath Sinha shared their early memories with the audience. The celebrations are now slated to be held in Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai over the next few months. Do stay tuned for more details.
