Alma Matters
Issue 4 - February, 2010

Dear Alum,

February was placement season here at the School and you could find smartly dressed students from the Class of 2010 rushing from interview to interview, eager, nervous, slightly apprehensive but confident of their abilities. I am happy to report that placements are going well and we are more than half way through the process. CAS requests all alumni who have openings in their teams or know of any openings in their company to get in touch with Mohit Verma (mohit_varma@isb.edu) from the Founding Class who is now part of the Learning and Development team. This is an opportunity for us to make sure the current class gets placed in the best of companies and roles, hence strengthening our own network.

As the School scales greater heights, all of us have collectively felt that need to coordinate better, implement things more quickly and derive synergy from our efforts across various departments. Dean Rangnekar has appointed four key people at the Deputy Dean, or the equivalent Senior Associate Dean level, to oversee four important pillars of the School – Deepak Chandra will oversee all the outreach activities including Executive Education, Admissions and Career Advancement Services, PGPMAX, Business Affairs and Advancement (Alumni Relations, Development, Marketing and Communications). Savita Mahajan continues in her role as the Chief Executive for the Mohali Campus, and will be involved in all the strategic initiatives of the School. Professor Dishan Kamdar and Professor Sanjay Kallapur are the Senior Associate Deans for Academic Programmes and Faculty & Research respectively. I am sure they can count on our support for all their endeavors.

The new Senate of the alumni association has now officially taken over and we had a formal handover meeting last Sunday. They are all charged up and will work very closely with the School to create a more vibrant and stronger ISB alumni community. This issue also carries their vision for the ISB Alumni Association and I urge you all to read through it and give them your feedback.

As you all must be aware, the School is now in the process of getting the AACSB accreditation. The peer review committee is scheduled to visit us in the next six months and hopefully the entire process should be completed in a year or so. This will help in further recognition of our PGP program, globally.

We recently started formalizing ‘Deals and Discounts’ from restaurants and hotels in Hyderabad for the ISB community. You can now show your alumni ID card and avail a minimum discount of 10% in various eateries around the city. You can also get special room rates at hotels like Ista, Westin and Ella suites. The entire list of participating outlets will be published in the next issue of this newsletter. We would like to extend this effort to all metros, to start with, with the help of alumni in those cities. Do let us know if you can help out in this and if you have any recommendations.

We would love to hear from you and feature your personal and professional achievements in this newsletter. So please keep us informed.

Till next time..

Cheers!
