Dear Alums

The brick laying ceremony for the Mohali campus took place on the 11th of August, with the Punjab Chief Minister Shri Sardar Parkash Singh Badal doing the honours. We had many dignitaries including our Executive Board members present on the occasion. Kamal Narang (Founding Class and Chairperson of the ISB AA) represented the alumni association and many other alumni in the Chandigarh and Delhi vicinity attend the reception that evening. We expect to welcome the first group of students to the Mohali campus in April 2011, if things go according to plan.

The Dr Reddy’s Cell for Employability and Skilling was recently launched with a mandate to study the gaps that exist in the emerging market context, identify best practices and develop scalable business models particularly in the skills assessment space. This cell will function within the Centre for Emerging Markets Solutions (CEMS) at the ISB.

We also welcomed the Founding Class of the PGPMAX for Senior Executives on August 16th. This 65- student strong Class consists of CEOs, SBU heads and other Senior Managers across a range of industries including the public sector. This programme which has received wide spread interest will go a long way in building leaders.

We conducted Knowledge Sessions by senior alumni in all verticals for the Class of 2011 which were very well received. Students got a different perspective and were also introduced to various nuances of a particular function/industry which will help them during the placement season and beyond.

The campus buzzed with various activities all through August. Bandhan was organised with great enthusiasm and saw the entire ISB community coming out and taking an active part in it. The School also hosted the AISEC International Congress which was attended by 700 participants from 50 countries.

Alumni chapters in Singapore, Delhi and Bangalore held various connect events. The Bangalore group conducted a Green Heritage Walk which many alums appreciated. Singapore and Delhi had sessions with Professor Bhagwan Chowdhary which received tremendous feedback. The Bangalore chapter also conducted a ‘Welcome to the Class of 2010’ on the 28th of August.

The North America Alumni Chapter is organising a ‘Life-long Learning’ and connect event on the 11th of September from 4 pm To 7 pm in Manhattan, NYC. They have roped in visiting faculty for short talks on various topics and are putting in a lot of effort to make this event a success. For more details, please contact Anuj (Class of ’05) at anuj_kapadia2005@pgp.isb.edu. If you are in the Tri-state area, I urge you to attend this event. Not only will it give all of us a chance to catch up, it will also encourage us to put together many more interesting events.

Also as a part of the ‘Life-long Learning’ initiative, Professor Dishan Kamdar will be holding NEGA workshops. I hope you will take the opportunity to attend the workshops that will be held across the country over the next few months.

The Delhi chapter along with GoMissing Weekends (an alum startup venture) is oragnising a trip to hideout in the hills of Uttaranchal from September 10th to 12th. For further details, you can email Saurabh Kapur (Class of ’09) at saurabh@gomissing.com.

As always, please send us your feedback and suggestions to alumni_relations@isb.edu or write to me directly at Nidhi_reddy@isb.edu.

Warm wishes,
Nidhi
