Dear All,
I am happy to inform you that we are expanding the scope of our activities. Accordingly, the Thomas Schmidheiny Chair of Family business and Wealth Management has been upgraded to the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, thanks to a generous donation provided by Dr Schmidheiny. We will have several new activities too under the Centre.
We have chosen Corporate Governance in Family Business as the main theme for this issue of the Family Business News. We have included summaries of some well-known articles published in this area, and a gist of press clippings. Hope you will find them interesting.
I am delighted that my book, “The 10 Commandments for Family Business” has been published by the SAGE Publications, New Delhi. I hope you will find it interesting and insightful.
As you are probably aware, we have organised the Fifth Asian Invitational Conference on Family Business at the ISB during February 6 – 8 2015, with“Continuity of Family Business Across Generations” as the theme. Day one had an Academic Conference where 25 cases were presented by academics from India and abroad. Days Two and Three had the business conference where eminent speakers like Dr Thomas Schmidheiny and Dr Dieter Spalti (Spectrum Value Management Ltd, Switzerland), Mr Adi Godrej (Godrej group), Ms Shanti Poesposoetjipto (PT Samudera TBK), Professor Dennis Jaffe (Saybrook University), Mr Sajjan Jindal (JSW Group), Mr GV Prasad (Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd), Mr PS Srinivas (World Bank) shared their experiences on different themes. More than 380 delegates attended the conference and listened to 26 speakers. The conference provided a great platform for sharing insights on topics focusing on family business. Please visit www.isb.edu/fifthfbconference for speakers’ presentations. Please click here for the conference report.
Our next annual training programme on “Family Business – Managing Growth and Transformation” is scheduled during April 6 – 9, 2015.
As always, I encourage you to send your feedback and interesting articles which we can consider for inclusion in our forthcoming newsletters.
Best regards,
Ram
