“India After Gandhi ”, by Ramachandran Guha
An amazing book that covers India's history from independence till about 2010. The books provides a chilling account of what all, good and bad, happened at the political as well as grassroot levels that led to division of the country. This is followed by formation of United India along with the formation of various states. The book then talks about various leaders that followed including Sardar Patel, Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi . Ramachandran Guha is a renowned historian and had done extensive research on the subject before penning it down. An eye opener as well as a great travel companion, this book is
a must read.

This is a must read book for all wildlife lovers. Jim Corbett was a well known hunter turned conservationist who helped the people of Kumaon (part of Uttarakhand) get rid of many man eating tigers in the early 20th  century. Jim's writing style is so impressive, detailed and magnetic that once you start any of his seven books, you wouldn't want to take a break. This book takes you 100 years back into a time when life was as simple as one can think of. No motor vehicles, no telephones, no gadgets! What you find is the peaceful surrounding of Indian Jungles and the only noise heard is the chirping of birds, call of tigers, leopards, deer and sometimes the growl of angry predators.
Most importantly, one gets impressed with the compassion showed by Jim towards rural poor which is not only contagious but also an inspiration for all.
