Workshop on RFID Systems and Applications
September 6, 2007
 September 6 – 7, 2007

What is the single most important
technology, that global retail giants like Wal-Mart are rolling out
to their stores? Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) is being touted as the next leap in the
science and art of retail performance. What is RFID, and how will it
impact the supply chain as well as other industries?
This workshop on RFID Systems and Applications, organised by ISB’s
GLAMS (Centre for Global Logistics and Manufacturing) as part of the
upcoming Global Logistics Summit will address these questions and
provide the information you need to leverage RFID in your company.

The workshop coach is Prof. Sanjay Sarma, an associate professor at
MIT. Sarma was one of the founders of the Auto-ID Center at MIT,
which developed many of the technical concepts and standards of
retail RFID and chaired the Auto-ID Research Council consisting of 6
labs worldwide, which he helped set up. Today, the suite of
standards developed by the Auto-ID Center, commonly referred to as
the EPC, are being used by over a thousand companies on five
continents. Sarma serves on the board of EPCglobal, the worldwide
			standards body he helped create.

  GLAMS Global Supply Chain Summit
 September 7, 2007

The Centre for Global Logistics and Manufacturing Strategies (GLAMS)
is hosting its flagship event of the year, the Global Supply
Chain Summit (GSS), during September 6-7, 2007. With the theme
“Strategies for Global Competitive Advantage in Services”, the
Summit will explore the challenges and opportunities in rural as
well as global supply chains in emerging markets.

Several leading Industrialists, Academicians, and Policy makers
will participate as session anchors and speakers at the Summit.
The use of streamlined service chain processes and organised
logistics in the rural areas will enable shrinking the bottom of
the pyramid and increase the penetration levels of many products
to the rural areas. Similarly, the Indian services industry can
be strategically positioned to lead the world. The Summit will
help set the agenda to take the retail, manufacturing, and
business service industries to the next level of competitiveness
				in the global arena.

the current consolidation phase where capital reserves will
determine who captures the market share.
