Heroes – The Homecoming
‘Heroes – The Homecoming’ was the theme for this year's Solstice. The much awaited annual event was held from December 19 to 21, 2008. Around 350 alumni from across the batches came together to reminisce their days at the campus. The Atrium wore the look of a kid’s birthday party with balloons and cut-outs of super heroes. Volunteers from the current Class of 2009 were the perfect hosts, taking care of every detail of an extremely well planned programme. A new initiative - the alumni entrepreneur board was introduced.

ISB Leadership Summit
ISB Leadership Summit
ILS- the ISB Leadership Summit, with the theme ‘The Changing World Order – India’s Growing Prominence' was held on December 6, 2008. The Summit initiated a thought provoking discussion on how challenges like corruption, poverty, over population, and severe income disparities in India balance with the “Changing World Order”.

International Symposium of Information Systems (ISIS 2008)
CITNE hosted the third International Symposium of Information Systems (ISIS 2008) on December 19-21, 2008. The Symposium brought together leading academic researchers and industry thought leaders to confer and debate on research topics, which are relevant and rigorous, in the IT domain. The Co-Chairs of the event were Professor Rajiv Banker, Temple University, Professor Ravi Bapna, University of Minnesota, and CITNE Executive Director and Professor V Sambamurthy, Michigan State. In his welcome address, Professor Bapna mentioned that this international symposium aimed to bring the global IT community together, and focus on the role of IT in enhancing global competitiveness and economic development.

ISB Mohali Campus ISB Mohali Campus

A tripartite agreement was signed on November 12, 2008 with the Government of Punjab, and four leading business leaders, to set up a second campus at Knowledge City, Mohali, Punjab. 70 acres of land has been allotted to the ISB, by the Government of Punjab, on a 99 years lease.

The fourth edition of  The Indus Entrepreneurs-Indian School of Business TiE-ISB Connect was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by M Veerappa Moily, Chairman, Administrative Reforms Commission, Dr Geetha Reddy, Honourable Minister for Industries, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Srini Raju, Peepul Advisors, JA Chowdary, President, TiE Hyderabad, and Dr Krishna Tanuku, Co-Convener, TiE ISB Connect.

Faculty News


Professor Kavil Ramachandran was appointed as the Thomas Schmidheiny Chair Professor of Family Business and Wealth Management with effect from December 1, 2008. Professor Ramachandran will hold the Chair till September 30, 2011. The search for the Chair Professorship was done on a global scale. An advertisement inviting applications for the Thomas Schmidheiny Chair was placed in the Academy of Management job site. In addition, an advertisement was also released in the all India editions of the Economic Times. A search committee comprising Professors Ranjay Gulati (Chair) and Jagmohan Raju was set up to oversee the process, review applications, and recommend the candidate. After reviewing the applications, the Committee has recommended that Professor Kavil Ramachandran be given the Chair.

Professor Praveen Kopalle


Professor Praveen Kopalle, Associate Professor, Tuck School of Business Dartmouth College, has joined the ISB as a Visiting Scholar. He will be at the ISB till the end of April 2009. His research interests are in the area of Marketing particularly customer expectations, frequency reward programmes, reference prices, pricing strategy, bundling, new products/innovation

Professor Venkataraman Nilakant

Professor Venkataraman Nilakant, Associate Professor, Department of Management, College of Business and Economics, University of Canterbury joined the ISB as a Visiting Scholar. He is visiting ISB till the end of January 2009. Some of the areas in which he does research are the evolution of the Indian IT industry, economic theories of organisation, and the management of small and medium enterprises. ISB Day Seven – the Colours of the Rainbow
‘Seven – the Colours of the Rainbow’ was the theme of the Seventh Year Celebration of the ISB. On December 7,2008  the entire ISB community came together for a memorable evening to commemorate the seventh year of an institution called the ISB.

Hyderabad 10k Run
Keeping the tradition of the past two years, faculty members, staff, alumni, spouses and even children took part in the fourth edition of the ‘Hyderabad 10k Run.’ On a pleasant November morning 250 odd ISBians ran along with other students, youth, sportspersons, corporates and even senior citizens, and displayed the camaraderie and solidarity much needed in today’s times.
