Editor’s Note

Dear ISB Community,

The past few months have been truly rewarding as we’ve closed the first cohort of our knowledge workshops on business innovation, built valuable relationships with the Global Capability Centres (GCC) community, hosted multiple learning opportunities like the fintech webinar and the Indo-US learning table on bilateral trade, and much more. We are happy to share these updates with you in the hope that you will join us in future and maximise our efforts to develop an innovation mindset.

As we enter the new fiscal, I want to draw your attention to the multiple industry verticals that have been charted at the centre, and the upcoming learning opportunities under each vertical. From learning tables on agritech and healthcare to defence and aviation in the coming few months, we hope to engage our industry partners as well as the distinguished ISB faculty and research fellows in our network to create thought leadership platforms, that will eventually inform and inspire policymakers, entrepreneurs, large enterprises, and the ecosystem at large.
Over the next few months, you will also witness a continuation of our knowledge workshops on Accelerating Growth through Innovation (AGTI) as well as a curated forum for GCC leaders in the country. These efforts reflect our commitment to helping leaders succeed, supporting business transformation, and exploring new opportunities in innovation. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to working together in the future.
Best regards,
Dr. Rajendra Srivastava
Executive Director, Centre for Business Innovation

The Indo American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, in partnership with the Centre for Business Innovation at the Indian School of Business (ISB), successfully organized a Learning Table on “Indo-US Business and Trade Relations – Opportunities & Challenges” on February 24, 2025, at ISB Hyderabad. The event was graced by Ms. Jennifer Larson, Consul General, U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad, and featured insightful conversations on advancing bilateral ties.
Key takeaways included the ambitious “Mission 500” target, projecting Indo-US bilateral trade to grow from $118 billion in 2024 to $500 billion by 2030, driven by innovation in sectors such as defense, semiconductors, and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). The significance of people-to-people ties was underscored, with over 300,000 Indian students contributing more than $10 billion to the US education sector, and American firms employing over 100,000 professionals in India, reflecting mutual economic interdependence.
GCCs emerged as engines of innovation, with over 2,000 centers in India contributing heavily to R&D, AI, and deep tech — every $10 million investment generating over $200 million in value. Hyderabad, alongside Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gurgaon, was spotlighted as a preferred GCC destination due to its connectivity and talent pool, while a policy push is needed to unlock potential in Tier 2 and 3 cities like Vishakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar.
The discussions also highlighted the strengthening of cross-border startup and innovation ecosystems between India and Silicon Valley, particularly in AI and fintech. The event concluded with appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and support of industry leaders and speakers, and a call to continue fostering meaningful Indo-US collaborations.
