Dean’s Reflections

Dear Friends,

April has been a month of new beginnings and celebrations for us at ISB. The Class of 2012 graduated with great flourish in a ceremony that was attended by our Board members, including the Chairman, Adi Godrej. I am sure Professor Raghuram Rajan’s powerful Graduation Day address will be remembered long after this day for its frank insights on the challenges facing India.

And just as the Class of 2012 graduated, we prepared ourselves for the momentous occasion: the inauguration of our Mohali campus. We welcomed students in both campuses on April 15th. With 200 students at the Mohali campus and some 570 students at the Hyderabad campus, we have a Class of 770 very bright students. We have ensured that the quality, on all parameters – from academic achievements to diversity and experience – is identical in both the campuses. I congratulate my colleagues in Admissions, Academic Services, and student engagement departments, who have worked meticulously to ensure parity between the two campuses. During the year, there will be many opportunities for students to move from one campus to the other.

There is always a palpable energy in a new class, and this year is no different. A new campus has its own extra excitement, and Mohali has made us nostalgic about the initial years of the Hyderabad campus.  I am immensely enthused by the passion shown by the Mohali Founding Class and I feel energised each time I interact with them.

The Faculty too, have been very supportive about teaching in Mohali. We have a terrific line up there which will ensure that students on both campuses experience the same academic rigour.

I plan on spending a week in Hyderabad and a week in Mohali every month. Rest of the time, I hope to continue travelling all over India, and abroad, meeting with our supporters.

I look forward to hearing from you. Do write to me at ajit_rangnekar@isb.edu.

With Regards,
Ajit Rangnekar
