Dean’s Reflections

Dear Friends,

This is a great time of the year to be in India, and especially here in Hyderabad! First, Dushera, then Diwali – the campus rang in the festivals with our usual enthusiasm. Weather in Hyderabad is a well-kept secret. Except for the three months of summer, we enjoy mostly balmy, but sometimes unpredictable weather.

Achievements of the ISB Community capped a great month – Professor Shamika Ravi was invited to an advisory group at the UNICEF for the work that they do under the theme "Strategies for Disparities Reduction"; the founding class of PGPMAX completed their courses and are set to graduate; our PGP students received an overwhelming response for the NGO training programme they conducted in Patna, and some PGP students won the prestigious Exchequer 2011 competition, where they were declared “Wizards of Finance.” We also had our share of insightful conferences and events. I feel proud in sharing the news of our faculty and students’ accomplishments. It reaffirms my belief that we have created a bright, high achieving community.

Trees mark our growth at ISB; here we celebrate our successes and new beginnings by planting trees. This month also marked a new beginning for us at Mohali, where we kicked-off a "Campus Green" initiative. Analjit Singh, Chairman of Max India and an executive board member led a group of children from a neighbouring school, and other members from the ISB community to plant a hundred saplings in the new campus. In the last ten years, the saplings in our Hyderabad campus have grown into huge shade-giving trees. I hope in future, our campus at Mohali too, will be surrounded by tall markers of our achievements.

I hope you had a great festive season. I look forward to hearing from you. Do write to me at ajit_rangnekar@isb.edu.

With Regards,
Ajit Rangnekar
