Healthcare and Pharma Conclave 2008
The Healthcare Club, at the ISB, hosted its flagship event ‘Healthcare and Pharma Conclave 2008,’ placing a special lens on emerging market issues in the healthcare sector. This year’s Healthcare Conclave spanned for two days and comprised special addresses by doyens in the healthcare arena, and panel discussions by industry experts. The Conclave managed to capture the essence of the opportunities and the scale of challenges that the developing markets, particularly India, are set to face in their quest for global stewardship.

President of the Healthcare Club, Ritu Garg, gave an overview of the Healthcare Club activities and added that the two day global event would probe into the changing dynamics of this sector, and track the road ahead." Savita Mahajan, Associate Dean, Strategic Initiatives, Admissions, Career Services, and Alumni Relations, in her welcome note, mentioned that the ISB’s interest in the Healthcare sector is increasing at a phenomenal pace. “ From a few students sharing an interest four years ago, to forming a Student club, to hosting global conferences, and now we are thinking of introducing a specialisation in healthcare management in our one year PGP programme at the proposed new campus at Mohali,” she summed up the School’s impetus in integrating the healthcare sector in its growth journey.
Prathap C Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals, in his keynote address mentioned that the ISB is an institution that has first brought about a confidence in people that ‘ we can do it’, and then has shown the way how to achieve it.

Dr Kiran Kumar has joined as a Visiting Scholar at the ISB. He is visiting ISB till September 14, 2009.
Dr Kumar is an Assistant Professor at National Institute of Securities Markets (An Initiative by SEBI), Mumbai. His research interests include Derivatives, Market Microstructure, and Applied Financial Econometrics.
