Artha 2015

Artha is the annual flagship event of the ISB Finance Club and took place this year on October 17 at ITC Parel in Mumbai. The theme of Artha 2015 was, India in a Sweet Spot? Initiatives required to emerge as a “Break Out Nation.”

The conference brought together some of the most eminent businessmen and policymakers in the field of finance. It was attended by over 300 people, including 150 students and 100 alumni. Of the alumni in attendance, several hold senior positions in the finance sector.

PJ Nayak (Chairman, RBI Committee on Public Sector Reforms & Former Chairman, CEO, Axis Bank) opened the conference with an excellent speech covering key banking policies and financial inclusion. Sanjay Nayar (CEO, KKR) then delivered a special address that set the stage beautifully for all the panels to come during the day, capturing all topics succinctly. The panel discussions featured an excellent mix of topical subjects – starting with Banking/ Financing Growth, followed by expert views from PE and capital market investors, and then ending with a panel focused on New-Age Sectors and investors.

Among the panelists and Key Note speakers we had senior leaders from IFC, KKR, IDFC, Bain & Co., Chrys Capital, Carlyle, Apax Partners, TPG Growth, Actis Partners, Morgan Stanley Asst, Kotak MF, Birla Insurance, India Ratings, Accel partners, Warburg Pincus, Avendus Capital and, of course, from ISB. We had 2 sponsor partners – IDFC and Furlenco. Artha’s media partnership with ET Now ensured that most of the event was aired live and received excellent press coverage, particularly in the financial papers.
