Tell us about yourself – your profile, recap your professional life after ISB including your career progression
After ISB, I worked for a few years at Wipro, where I took up various roles and moved across domains ranging from oil and gas to finance and securities. In the later part of my time at Wipro, I worked as advisor relations manager for the Asia Pacific region. During that time, I wanted to do something different and that was the driver to quit and start my own venture. Running a company is very different as you always have to be on your feet and not just think about how you can do something better, but also how to make it bigger.

Describe your fondest memory at ISB
My year at ISB was one of the most amazing years of my life! Although the whole experience was a roller-coaster ride, I do recall one event that stood out. The Experiential Learning Project (ELP) was introduced for the first time in my year and the few projects that came in were oversubscribed. I was very disappointed at not being selected for any ELP. Hence, it was great that ISB allowed us to source projects through our own sources and networks. There was also a rule that the one who sourced the project would be part of the ELP team. Fortunately, through my limited industry connections, I managed to source a project. More than the project itself, it was the process of sourcing it that was extremely enriching and added to my overall learning experience.

With the knowledge and experience gained at ISB, when looking back, tell us something that you would have done differently while you were a student here?
ISB was instrumental in taking me out of my comfort zone. Looking back, I feel I could have networked more because that is what you take with you after the one year.

In your personal life, how have you changed post-ISB? Do you see yourself doing something differently because you went to ISB? What has left a lasting impression?
I would really like to make a difference to the society. Having interacted with such achievers, including industry veterans and the professors, it made me feel that I can also do something different and bigger in my life. I am also grateful for our alumni that go the extra mile to help us whether it is for any reference, a connection that they help us with or for any information that we seek.

How do you think ISB has contributed to your career growth?

ISB has given me the confidence to take risks in my career. The direct and indirect networks I have made through ISB have enabled me to establish connections for my business. The brand recognition of ISB has grown over the years with more and more alums occupying important positions in the industry. The ISB brand definitely helps me establish a rapport when I speak to someone.

If you have to sum up ISB in one word
Amazing!

What are the areas that you can contribute to in ISB?
Sometimes, people opt for an MBA with incorrect expectations. I can definitely guide them to have realistic expectations in terms of their career progression post ISB. The School definitely adds value to one’s career, but ultimately, it depends upon the individual what kind of benefit he or she wants to derive from the whole ISB experience. I can also share my entrepreneurship experience with those who have already started or want to start their own ventures.
