What was your job profile before the ISB?

I was basically into a core technical area, penetration testing and data security. I loved doing what I did, since my engineering days at IIT Bombay.

Tell us about your ISB experience.

My focus was on the academics. I took as many courses as I could and focused on maximising my learning. I wanted to get into risk advisory, an area that is business oriented yet in the information security domain. I still keep myself up to date on technical developments in my areas of interest and am passionate about the field.

What are you currently doing?

After my stint at E&Y, I’m currently working as Senior Manager at HP with the Global Business Services unit in the risk advisory/ management area. It includes business continuity planning, disaster recovery, risk and vulnerability assessment.

What are the learnings and challenges in the role?

My role involves developing solutions and consulting for HP internally in the area of data security and risk management. Since I am passionate about the field I enjoy what I do immensely. HP is a good employer and its services business will see immense growth in the near future.

Any advice for the current class?

Interviewers form an impression in the first minute or so of the interview. Keep the start interesting and guide the interviewer into asking you the right questions. Make sure your CV answers the question ‘so what?’ and is not a laundry list of your roles and responsibilities. Be honest in your CV as the interviewer is likely to be more experienced than you are and will be able to catch any ‘bluffs’. Aptitude, attitude and ethics are important parameters you’ll be judged on; so be genuine and honest. Other than that, be yourself and enjoy your time at the ISB.
