Can you tell us a little about your family background/ history?

I belong to a family of five. My father worked with a public sector undertaking (PSU) and is now retired; my mother is a housewife; my wife works with an insurance company and my brother is pursuing a degree in a management education.

Tell us about your profile pre-ISB, and recap your professional life after ISB including your career progression.
Pre-ISB, I was working with Tata Consultancy Services as an assistant systems engineer in the mainframes domain and I was in charge of implementing projects in the manufacturing and insurance domains.

Post-ISB, I joined Fortis Healthcare, Asia’s leading healthcare provider, as part of their Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team. Subsequently, I completed a three year stint with the Managing Director and the corporate strategy function in the healthcare chain. Subsequently, I was involved in PE player’s investment in a Delhi based healthcare setup. Currently, I am involved with setting up of a healthcare practice at a management consulting startup in Mumbai.

Describe your fondest memory at ISB.
As a Class Representative, I was “ceremoniously dunked” into the pool for every single birthday in my section … I just loved it!

In your personal life, how have you changed post-ISB? Do you see yourself doing something differently because you went to ISB? What has left a lasting impression?
Personally, I believe ISB was a humbling experience. You find yourself in the company of people with diverse and rich backgrounds, and yet, seeing some of them, you realise that there is no particular age for learning, which I believe is a great asset.

How do you think ISB has contributed to your career growth?
It helped me make a career transition into the areas of business planning and consulting, and gradually into the field of consulting. I have had a complete makeover at the ISB  moving from the IT industry to the healthcare industry and from programme development to M&A, and now, consulting.

If you have to sum up ISB in one word:
Phenomen-izing!

What was the main highlight of your programme at the ISB?
The opportunity to not only do but also learn so much in just one year and meet people and leaders from different walks of life and make new friends are some my highlights at the ISB.

Word of advice for the current class?
Take a long-term view and maximise your time and learning in the one year you have. Everything else will automatically fall in place!

What was your favourite course/ class at ISB and why?
“Mergers And Acquisitions” by Professor Srinivas Kamma. The course was rich in content and Professor Kamma’s teaching style was so fascinating that it generated an immediate interest in the subject.

What are the areas that you can contribute in to ISB?
I believe every alumnus should give back to his or her Alma Mater as both the school and its students reflect each other. The more you give back, the more you get. For me personally, the areas I could contribute are in brand development, alumni engagement, student mentoring and continuous feedback to the school to help it keep pace with the industry’s demand.

What do you enjoy most about your current career position?
I enjoyed the chance to create an institution on my own, the opportunity to strike it big and the challenge of taking the entrepreneurial route.

What is the next new thing in the industry or vertical you are working in? Any trends that you can see?
In the healthcare industry, new players and newer models are evolving, as in the interest of promoters, funds and the government. The industry is at a stage of stepping into a fast growth trajectory with increasing demand and renewed thrust by both public and private players.
