Can you tell us a little about your family background/ history?

I belong to a family of academicians and bureaucrats, of which I was the first to enroll in an engineering college, simply because everybody in my peer group was pursuing a degree in engineering! However, the academic bug bit me and I decided to apply to the ISB. I am now a qualified and experienced researcher and I am completely involved with my research work.

Tell us about your profile pre-ISB, and recap your professional life after ISB including your career progression
I was a domain and technology specialist working for Infosys in the U.S. Post-ISB, I have been working as an Industry Analyst, my role being that of an adviser of strategy and opportunities to firms who procure or provide IT services.

Describe your fondest memory of ISB.
SV4, C-17! I stayed in this studio for two years as my wife is part of Co2011. We moved into this studio when my daughter was six months old. Her most beautiful moments until the age of two-and-a half years have been in this studio. I still miss being there. If the ISB would ever decide to lease or sell its studios, I know I am going to buy SV4, C-17. In fact, as an afterthought, it seems like a great way to attract alumni endowments!

What was the main highlight of your programme at the ISB?
My interactions with the ISB professors both inside and outside the classrooms have been my main highlights of the programme here. I found this to be refreshing as I spent most of my college engineering days thinking of (and initiating) innovative ways to bunk classes. Moreover, my will to voluntarily attend classes at the ISB, was akin to self-realization.

Word of advice for the current class?
Just chill and go with the flow! And yes, if you find yourself cursing CAS during the last three months of your stay, know that you are normal! Relax. You will do well in life. I am confident that cursing CAS in the ninth term is something nobody informed you about!

What was your favourite course/ class at ISB and why?
Options and Futures! I assume many jaws will drop at reading this as I did not opt for finance major! I enjoyed this class as Professor Ram Thirumalai was cheerful, committed and helpful. I continue to reference some of the concepts learnt in class especially those that I find very intuitive.

What do you enjoy most about your current career position?
The ability to work in a variety of tasks that vary from snappy blogs and media briefings to presenting strategic insights and recommendations to large enterprises is something I truly enjoy.

What is the next new thing in the industry or vertical you are working in? Any trends that you can see?
I am currently leading research in the next generation of outsourcing in healthcare and cloud-based services. A definitive trend that I see is in the way buying centres are moving away from CIOs, back to business units, leading to fragmented sales organizations. This is going to be a big challenge for service providers selling strategies.
