CITI Commits US $ 1.5 million to ISB to promote financial inclusion for small investors and enterprises

Citi Foundation has dedicated $ 1.5 million research grant to Centre for Analytical Finance (CAF), at the Indian School of Business (ISB). The grant will be dispersed over a period of three years. The purpose of the grant is for CAF to take up different projects in the financial domain. The Citi and ISB will design a programme that intends to study, expand and advocate new methods and processes to improve the access of capital markets to small investors, enterprises, and to the sections that are unable to access financial systems.

FT Ranking Celebrations
The great milestone in the ISB history – being ranked 20 among the top 100 Global Business Schools is celebrated by the alumni body spread around the globe. FT 20 Celebrations in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore have been extremely successful events with participation from Alumni, ISB and the Governing Board members. Hyderabad and UK chapters would be celebrating the same very soon.

  • Professor Naga Lakshmi Damaraju has joined the ISB as an Assistant Professor in the Strategy Area
     
  • Professor Ravi Bapna has resigned effective July 5, 2008 to accept a faculty position at the University of Minnesota. However he would continue to be associated part of his time with the ISB as an Executive Director of CITNE for the next two years.
A record-breaking Blood Donation initiative at the ISB

A bee-line of eager volunteers at the recently conducted blood donation camp held at the Indian School of Business (ISB), once again proved the spirit of commune and service amongst the ISB community. A record 269 units of blood was collected at the event, organised by enthusiastic Net Impact volunteers from the Class of 2009. Students, Faculty and Staff at the ISB took out time from their schedule and were seen tirelessly waiting for their turn to donate blood during the day long event conducted at the School’s premises.

Bridging Many Divides
Student Rajeev Ram Ramprakash from the Class of 2009 at the ISB was not very sure what to expect, as he walked toward a group of children at the School Atrium. Not before too long the children, aged between 10 to 12, were capturing images that caught their fancy inside the ISB campus. It was evident that they all understood their roles - some taking their debut pictures with a camera, some willingly posing in front of it, and others busy exploring the new surroundings.

Planting a Greener Tomorrow

Commemorating the cause of World Environment Day 2008, the ISB community joined hands to
pledge for a greener and safer world. As every year, the day was celebrated by planting
saplings inside the School campus. On the occasion were present, Dean M Rammohan Rao, Uma Rao, members of faculty, students, and a large representation from the ISB staff. In line with the United Nation’s theme this year of gearing towards a low carbon economy, the ISB community advocated to achieve carbon neutrality by planting different varieties of trees.

Paraspara – A Forum for Peer-Learning
Besides classroom learning, peer-to-peer interactions contribute greatly to the ISB learning experience. The close-knit student community, comprising diverse and high-potential peers, enhances the value erudition and knowledge sharing here.

As an example, at a recent student forum ‘Paraspara’, organised by the Consulting Club at the ISB, ex-consultants from within the student body shared perspectives with their peers about various practice lines contained in the consulting domain.
