Tell us about yourself - your profile, recap your professional life
after ISB including your career progression.
A marketing man through and through, prior to ISB, I spent ten years working
on brands like Domino's Pizza and GSK in India, and British Telecom and P&G,
among others, in the UK.
Post ISB, I decided to stick to my strengths and pursue a career in the buzz
industry of the time – Retail – and joined Bharti Walmart as Head of Brands.
Two years later, the entrepreneurial bug bit and along with my wife, Meghna,
who is also from the Class of 2008, I entered the hospitality sector. We are
currently in the final stages of launching our first hotel in Hyderabad,
“The Purple Leaf Hotel.”
What was your key take-away from the ISB?
A strong network of extremely talented individuals – alumni, students,
professors and staff.
How do you think the ISB has contributed to your career growth?
It always helps to be a part of an elite group of very smart individuals
who are recognised globally. Apart from that, however, what ISB imparted was
structured thinking and an appreciation for simple logic.
What is your vision for the School?
I see ISB as a School that produces cutting-edge research and the
most sought-after global leaders/managers trained by an ensemble of the best
professors in the world.
What are the strengths that the School can leverage upon and areas it can improve?
ISB can leverage upon its strong academic focus to publish quality
research papers under the School’s name.
How do you think alums can associate with the School or alum’s role in building the School?
A strong alumni network is key to any school's success. The alumni community
must ensure that the ISB flag flutters high in their organisations and
social circles. Alums need to encourage the right students to consider ISB
for their management education. They must maintain their ties to the School,
students and fellow alumni, and most importantly, ensure that their
organisations permanently feature ISB in their recruitment
What is the area you can contribute in?
Apart from the usual sessions on and off-campus, I look forward to working
with the talented graduates ISB produces year-on-year.
