Can you tell us a little about your family background/ history?
I come from a family business background. We have manufacturing interests in steel, cement, power, ferro-alloys and refractories. We are still part of a joint family system, in which all of us work in defined roles.

Tell us about your profile pre-ISB,  and recap your professional life after ISB, including your career progression
I started my professional career in Deloitte, where I worked as a consultant. After spending a year there, I joined our family business. Fresh from a consulting background, I took the challenge of implementing ERP to support our manufacturing units in different locations. This helped me get a “helicopter” view of how the business ran. I found that I was inclined towards finance and project planning and implementation.

Post-ISB, I re-entered the family business. I led a team in the implementation of a 72 MVA ferro-alloy project in Visakhapatnam. Also, I am leading my group’s foray into the real estate business. Most recently, I have been given additional responsibilities in our TMT-steel plant.

Describe your fondest memory of ISB.
ISB has given me so many unforgettable memories. If I have to pick my favourite, it would be the inter-section competitions. It helped us gel as a group and revealed the amazing talent that we had among us. I got a chance to shed my inhibitions and perform on stage. Our section was amazing and we won almost all of the competitions.

In your personal life, how have you changed post-ISB? Do you see yourself doing something differently because you went to ISB? What has left a lasting impression?
ISB has taught me to appreciate and accept perspectives of different people. Also, it has given me the great gift of humility. This has made a more tolerant person and a better leader.
The camaraderie in the batch and across alums is excellent. Everyone is looking to help others. The onus is on you to ask for it.

If you have to sum up ISB in one word:
Transformational.

What was the main highlight of your programme at the ISB?
The highlight for me was the exchange programme to NYU-Stern. It was very fulfilling both in terms of knowledge and exposure.

Word of advice for the current class?
ISB has a frantic pace. Keep your minds open and enjoy and absorb the atmosphere around you. Do not get caught up in the rat race.

What was your favourite course/ class at ISB and why?
Corporate Strategy.
