Tell us about yourself – your profile, recap your professional life after ISB including your career progression

I graduated in 2004 from the ISB. Prior to that, I had worked in manufacturing (NOCIL) and private equity (HSBC) for around 5 years. Post ISB, I worked with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for around 5 years. I have worked in a variety of industry verticals (telecommunications, consumer durables, automobiles, banking, construction materials, and healthcare) and also functional topics (Growth strategy, entry strategy, business planning, sales force effectiveness, sourcing, lean manufacturing and supply chain). I joined BCG as a senior associate and was a project leader when I left to co-found a management consulting company, Aspire Advisors, focused on mid-size and small companies in India.

What was your key take-away from the ISB?

My two key takeaways were - inspiration for life and friends for life

How do you think the ISB has contributed to your career growth?

The ISB gave me a great platform to start a challenging new career in management consulting. As an entrepreneur, I derive a lot of support from the school as well as the diverse and helpful alumni base.

Tell us a little bit about your venture…

We are a management consulting company, currently focused on the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sector. Our team has a combination of people with premier management consulting and actual healthcare industry operating experience, which positions us very well to add value to our clients. Our vision is to become the gold standard in management consulting for the mid-size to small company segment.

What is your vision for the School?

My vision for the ISB is that it will become the most reputed and sought after institution for management education and research in the world.

What are the strengths that the School can leverage upon and areas in which it can improve?

The ISB has three key strengths that it should leverage as it marches towards becoming the world’s number one school:

  • The ISB’s DNA of excellence and leadership, that is visible in its course design, facilities, faculty and students.
  • Its location in India, which is next only to China in terms of economic growth. In addition, being a democratic country it has higher universal appeal. The ISB’s design makes it the natural choice for global recruiters and prospective students from abroad who have an interest in India and management. The ISB’s leadership position in research and providing insights on India-specific management issues will be a key differentiator.
  • The School’s focus on involving and engaging the society to make a difference

What do you think is the alumni’s role in building the School?

Alumni can contribute to the School by helping each other prosper in their respective careers by sharing professional learnings, highlighting interesting new career opportunities and promoting the ISB as a preferred place for their employers to recruit from; Mentoring and guiding current students in thinking about their career choice and Playing an active role in influencing bright candidates to join the ISB

What are you personal interests?

My personal interests are travelling, reading and entrepreneurship.
